About Artistic director Kshama Shah

Smt, Kshama Shah has been trained in the field of dance and performing arts since the age of four from the state of Gujarat, India. She went to M.S. University in Baroda, Gujarat to undertake the further study of Performing Arts with focus in BharataNatyam. Her complete tutelage was from none other than, world renowned Guru C. V. Chandrasekhar, He also served as the Dean of the music College and Arts program at the University. Disciple Kshama, also trained with Guru Rama Srikant and Dr. Parul Shah. He is  a disciple of Rukmini Devi Arundale, founder of Kalakshetra, Chennai, India. Guru C. V. Chandrasekhar - crowned Padmabushan Awardee and Sangeet Natak Academi Fellow. Rukmini Devi revived the temple dance of Devadasis and brought to Kalakshetra.

Since her migration to the US, in 1993 – she opened the academy with one dream and a passion. The dream of the passing on the most difficult and challenging dance of India to everyone that enters the Academy to final dance recitals while exercising her passion in doing so. 

Flash forward twenty-three years, Mudra Academy students has performed at prominent events nationally and internationally. Guru Kshama Shah has given recitals, lecture demonstrations and received awards. She’s won many prizes in folk dance competitions and awarded for judging events from folk dances to classical dance.
